Every chord is a root and a stack of intervals.
Major and minor.
A major chord is the root, a major third and a fifth: C E G. A minor lowers the third: C E♭ G.
Sevenths.
Add a seventh to a chord for 7, major 7 and minor 7 chords.
Others.
Diminished, augmented and suspended chords change the third or the fifth.
