Testing speakers with a sweep.
A sweep glides through every frequency so rattles, booms and dips show themselves; how to set one, and by octaves or in a straight line.

Let the sweep find the faults for you.
Setting it.
Choose where it starts and ends and how long it takes; 20 Hz to 20 kHz over ten seconds is a good first sweep.
By octaves.
By octaves gives each octave the same time, as we hear pitch; a straight line rushes the low notes.
Listening.
Listen for buzzes, sudden loud or quiet places, and where the sound fades away.
