From WebP to a file anything opens.

Convert WebP, AVIF or JPEG XL images to JPG or PNG in your browser, keeping see-through parts in PNG. Fifty at once, and nothing is uploaded.

Save a picture from a website and it often arrives as .webp or .avif. Browsers show those happily; an older photo editor, a print shop or an upload form may not. The KeepSimp image converter turns them into JPG or PNG in your browser, and back again when you want small files for a site.

JPG or PNG?

Choose JPG for photographs that must open anywhere. Choose PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with see-through parts or sharp edges; it keeps every pixel, so it is larger.

Changing the format cannot bring back detail a file has already lost. A small WebP becomes a small JPG, not a sharper one.

Convert in three steps.

Open the image converter and drop the files, up to fifty at a time. It reads WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, HEIC, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO and SVG, and tells files apart by their contents, not their names, so a WebP saved with a .jpg name is still read correctly.

Under What do you need?, choose Opens everywhere for JPG or Sharp edges for PNG. Download each file, or everything as one ZIP.

A large picture can be made smaller on the way: turn on Make big photos smaller? and choose a longest side of 2,560, 1,920 or 1,280 pixels. Under More options, the quality for JPG goes from Small file to High, and the result says the new size beside the old one, so you can see whether a PNG has grown much larger than the WebP it came from.

See-through parts.

PNG keeps transparency exactly, so a logo saved as WebP comes out as a clear PNG. JPG cannot be see-through: clear parts are filled with white, or with black or a colour you choose under More options. The result says when that happened.

An animated WebP.

The image converter makes still pictures. An animated WebP or GIF gives its first frame, and its row says so. To keep the movement, use the animation converter, which turns an animated WebP into a GIF, an MP4 or an animated PNG.

The other way: JPG to WebP in bulk.

For a website, WebP is the converter's usual answer: choose Smaller file. To see whether AVIF would be smaller still, open Compare formats under More options. It encodes the selected picture in each format and lists the real sizes, smallest first.

Tick several formats at once and the converter writes every picture in each, with picture HTML that keeps a JPG or PNG for browsers that need it.
