Adding a term to your GPA.
A cumulative GPA weights this term and the GPA so far by their credits; here is why it is not the average of term GPAs, with an example.

Your overall GPA moves less with each term, because it carries all your credits.
Weighted by credits.
A 3.5 over 30 credits and a 3.45 over 14 make (3.5 × 30 + 48.3) ÷ 44 ≈ 3.48, not the 3.475 their plain average gives.
This term alone.
The page says this term's GPA under the overall one, so you see both.
Raising it.
The more credits behind you, the more a term must be above your GPA to move it; try different grades to see what each would make.
