A photo of a dog against a street, and the same dog cut out, ready to go on white

Shops like their products on plain white: it looks clean in a grid of results, and Amazon asks for it outright on the main picture. White background for product photos takes the background out on your device and puts pure white behind, square around the product.

From a photo on the table to a picture for the shop.

Open White background for product photos and drop your pictures. Each is cut out and put on pure white (255, 255, 255), square, with a little room around the product.

Under For a shop, choose the one you sell on and its own sizes and file type are set: the page says what that shop's help asks for and links to it.

Download each picture, or all of them as a ZIP.

What each shop asks for.

Amazon: a main image on pure white, the product filling 85% of it, at least 1,500 pixels on its longest side, by its clothing style guide; check your own category in Seller Central. eBay: white backgrounds are generally best, at least 500 by 500 pixels and about 1600 by 1600 recommended, square looks best. Shopify: square images at 2048 by 2048 usually display best. Etsy: at least 2000 pixels wide and high, and one photo in each listing that has not been edited.

A photo smaller than a shop asks for is left as it is, and the page says so: making it larger would only blur it. Take the photo again closer, or with more pixels.

Light it well, and the rest is easy.

Soft light from the front or the side, a plain surface and a little space behind the product make the cut-out cleanest. A shadow on the ground, under Look, puts the product back on a surface once it is on white.
