For AI agents

Let your agent use KeepSimp

Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and other agent apps, and agents in your browser, can call KeepSimp’s tools: the same engines as the tools’ own pages, on your device. Files go from your computer into a browser on your computer and back, never to a server.

Connect an agent

The KeepSimp bridge is a small program that runs on your computer. It opens this page in a browser of its own, hidden, hands it the files your agent names and saves what the tools make next to them. It reads and writes only inside the folders your agent works in.

Claude Code

Anthropic

Run this in a terminal. Claude Code tells the bridge which folders it works in.

Terminal

claude mcp add keepsimp -- npx -y keepsimp-mcp

Claude Desktop

Anthropic

In Claude's Settings, open Developer, then Edit Config, add this to claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude.

claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp", "--allow", "~/Documents"]
    }
  }
}

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

Codex

OpenAI

Add this to ~/.codex/config.toml. The longer start-up time leaves room for the first start, which downloads the bridge and a browser.

~/.codex/config.toml

[mcp_servers.keepsimp]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp"]
# The first start downloads the bridge and a browser; transcribing can take minutes.
startup_timeout_sec = 120
tool_timeout_sec = 300

Cursor

Anysphere

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to .cursor/mcp.json in one.

mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp", "--allow", "~/Documents"]
    }
  }
}

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

GitHub Copilot in VS Code

GitHub

Run this in a terminal to add the bridge to your VS Code profile, then use it from Copilot's agent mode.

Terminal

code --add-mcp '{"name":"keepsimp","type":"stdio","command":"npx","args":["-y","keepsimp-mcp","--allow","~/Documents"]}'

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

Gemini CLI

Google

Add this to ~/.gemini/settings.json, then check it with /mcp. Gemini CLI connects only in a folder you trust.

~/.gemini/settings.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Zed

Zed Industries

Open your settings with “zed: open settings file” and add this. Settings › AI › MCP Servers shows it running.

settings.json

{
  "context_servers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp", "--allow", "~/Documents"],
      "env": {}
    }
  }
}

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

Cline

Cline

In Cline, press MCP Servers, then Configure, then Configure MCP Servers, and add this to cline_mcp_settings.json.

cline_mcp_settings.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp", "--allow", "~/Documents"],
      "disabled": false
    }
  }
}

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

JetBrains AI Assistant

JetBrains

In Settings › Tools › AI Assistant › Model Context Protocol (MCP), press Add, choose STDIO and paste this.

New MCP server

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "keepsimp-mcp", "--allow", "~/Documents"]
    }
  }
}

Change ~/Documents to the folder your files are in. KeepSimp reads and writes only there.

opencode

opencode

Add this to opencode.json in your project.

opencode.json

{
  "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
  "mcp": {
    "keepsimp": {
      "type": "local",
      "command": ["npx", "-y", "keepsimp-mcp"],
      "enabled": true
    }
  }
}

Any other app that runs MCP servers can start it the same way: npx -y keepsimp-mcp, with --allow and a folder when the app does not say which folder it works in. Its first start downloads the bridge, and a browser when Chrome is not installed.
