An ounce is a sixteenth of a pound, and a pound is defined as 0.45359237 kg, so an ounce is exactly 28.349523125 grams.
Grams to ounces: divide by 28.349523125.
100 g is 100 ÷ 28.349523125 = about 3.5274 oz. Ounces to grams multiplies, so 8 oz is exactly 226.796185 g.
Three kinds of ounce.
A fluid ounce measures volume, not weight; a troy ounce, used for gold, is exactly 31.1034768 g. When you type oz, the converter reads a weight ounce unless the target is a volume, and says which it read.
Pounds and ounces together.
Type 2 lb 3 oz to kg and the two are added before converting: 35 ounces, exactly 0.992233309375 kg.
