A pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. From that one number, every weight conversion follows.
Kilograms to pounds: divide by 0.45359237.
70 kg is 70 ÷ 0.45359237 = about 154.324 lb. The quick rule of 2.2 pounds a kilogram is close, but gives 154 lb, about a third of a pound short.
Pounds and ounces, and stone.
The 0.324 lb left over is 0.324 × 16 = 5.18 ounces, so 70 kg is 154 lb 5.18 oz. In stone, 14 pounds each, it is 11 st 0.324 lb. The converter gives both under the answer.
Pounds to kilograms is exact.
Multiplying by 0.45359237 always ends: 154 lb is exactly 69.85322498 kg. In the converter, press Turn it round to go back from the answer.
