Exact factors
Every factor comes from its definition: an inch is 25.4 mm and a pound 0.45359237 kg exactly, a US gallon 231 cubic inches and a UK gallon 4.54609 litres. Answers are worked out exactly and rounded only to show them.
Words with two meanings
Ounces, cups, gallons, tons and mpg mean different amounts in different places. The page says which it read and offers the others; under More options, choose US, UK or metric cups and gallons.
Cups to grams
A cup of flour and a cup of sugar weigh different amounts, so say what it is. The weight comes from King Arthur Baking's chart and the answer says about.
Temperatures
The formula is shown with a thermometer. Turn on “It is a change in temperature” for how much warmer, so no 32 is added.
File sizes
Drive makers count 1,000 to the next unit and Windows counts 1,024, so both are given.
