Land is measured in acres, hectares and many local units. Some are fixed and some differ from place to place.
Acres and hectares.
An acre is exactly 43,560 square feet, so 2,000 sq ft is about 0.0459 acres. A hectare is exactly 10,000 m², about 2.47105 acres.
Gaj, cent, guntha and bigha.
A gaj is a square yard, exactly 9 sq ft; a cent is a hundredth of an acre (435.6 sq ft); a guntha is a fortieth of an acre (1,089 sq ft). The converter turns these exactly. A bigha's size differs between states and even districts, so it is not converted: the local land record decides it.
Square metres.
A square foot is exactly 0.09290304 m², since a foot is 0.3048 m. 1,000 sq ft is about 92.903 m².
