The back cover of a book with its ISBN barcode

A book's barcode is its ISBN-13 written as an EAN-13, the ISBN printed above it, often with a small 5-digit price beside it. The KeepSimp ISBN barcode generator makes it in your browser for your cover.

Your ISBN.

Type the ISBN-13 from your country's ISBN agency, with or without its hyphens. An older ten-digit ISBN-10 is checked and made ISBN-13, starting 978, as books are barcoded.

The price add-on.

The five digits beside the barcode are a price for booksellers: 5 and the US price in cents (51299 is $12.99), or 90000 for no price given. Some countries use other first digits; your distributor can tell you which they want.

For the cover.

Download PDF or EPS, which cover designers' programs place as sharp vectors, at about 37 mm across by 26 mm high. Switch on CMYK and give the bars your printer's black, 0 0 0 100. Leave the clear space beside the bars empty.
