Typing in another language means accents, other punctuation and often another keyboard. The Typing test speaks seven languages: choose one under More options.
Seven languages.
Common words come in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and Russian, the thousand used most in each, from Monkeytype's open lists with rude words taken out. German nouns keep their capitals.
Passages come from classic books in the public domain: Don Quijote in Spanish, Les Misérables and Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours in French, Die Verwandlung in German, two novels by Machado de Assis in Portuguese, and I promessi sposi in Italian. Older books keep their spellings, so the year is named under the words. There are no Russian passages yet.
Accents, however you type them.
An accent typed with a dead key (´ then e), held down on a phone, or chosen from a list counts as one letter, and only once it is made. Curly quotes and guillemets in the books are written as straight quotes, which every keyboard has.
Compare with yourself.
The averages the result names were measured in English. Languages with longer words and more accents score a little lower, so compare tests in one language with each other.
