Splitting rent by income.

Rent or bills shared in proportion to what each person earns, adding up exactly, worked out in your browser.

The Bill splitter: three people sharing a $128 bill, $42.67, $42.67 and $42.66, adding up exactly

When incomes differ, an even split can feel unfair. Sharing in proportion to income is one answer.

Each pays their share.

If Ana earns $60,000 and Ben $40,000, Ana earns 60% of what they earn together and pays 60% of the rent: $1,200 of $2,000, and Ben $800.

Exactly.

Shares are rounded to the cent and the cents left over go to the largest remainders, so they add up to the rent exactly.

Agree the numbers.

Income before or after tax both work; use whichever you agree on, and the page shares by what you type.
