How to convert metres to feet and inches.
A foot is exactly 0.3048 metres. How to turn metres into feet, then into feet and inches, and feet back into metres, with examples.

The foot is defined as exactly 0.3048 metres, so a metre is a little under 3 feet 3½ inches.
Metres to feet: divide by 0.3048.
2 m is 2 ÷ 0.3048 = about 6.56168 feet. The 0.56168 of a foot is 6.74 inches, so 2 m is 6 ft 6.74 in, or 6 ft 6 3/4 in to the nearest sixteenth.
Feet to metres is exact.
Multiply by 0.3048: 10 feet is exactly 3.048 m. The US survey foot, slightly longer, is no longer used for new surveys since 2023; the converter uses the international foot.
Yards and miles.
A yard is three feet, exactly 0.9144 m, and a mile 1,760 yards. Type yd or mi and they are read the same way.
