GIF to MP4

Turn an animated GIF into a much smaller MP4 video, on your device. Free, with no account or uploads.

The animation becomes an MP4 video, usually a fraction of the GIF's size. Where this browser cannot write MP4, the page says so.

Drop a GIF to turn it into a video

Add a moving picture (a GIF or a sticker), a short video from your phone or computer, or several photos to make one move. You can also paste one.

Stays on your device. Free, no account. Up to 20 at once, 100 MB each (video 500 MB).

A little help along the way

  1. Add your animationsDrop up to 20 moving pictures (GIFs, stickers), short videos from a phone or computer, or several photos to make one move. You can also paste, or try the samples.
  2. Say where it will goWebsite or app saves a small WebP, Chat or email a GIF that plays almost anywhere, and Social video an MP4, the smallest. APNG, WebM, frames and sprite sheets are under More options.
  3. Keep the part you wantUnder More options, drag the two handles on the strip of frames, or type a start and an end. Then set the speed, frame rate and direction.
  4. Check a framePause the preview, step to any frame and drag the slider across the original and the result.
  5. Fit where it is goingTurn on Must be under a size? and pick 256 KB, 1 MB, 5 MB or 10 MB, or choose a chat app's preset under More options: the tool lowers quality, frame rate and size until the real file fits.
  6. DownloadPress the large download button for one file, or the whole batch as a ZIP. The result says the new size and how much smaller it is.

Questions people ask

Will the MP4 loop like the GIF?
A video file has no loop count of its own: whether it plays again is up to the player or the site that shows it.
What if my browser cannot make MP4?
The page asks the browser first. Where it cannot write MP4, the page says so and saves a WebM video, or an animated WebP where it writes no video.
Can I turn a video into a GIF instead?
Yes. Drop a short MP4, MOV or WebM and choose GIF under More options. The Video to GIF page makes one too.
