Questions people ask
- How is words per minute worked out?
- Every five characters count as one word, spaces included. Words a minute counts the characters of the words you typed right, with their spaces, over five, over the minutes. The result shows each formula.
- What is the difference between WPM and raw?
- Words a minute counts only words typed right. Raw counts every character you left typed, right or wrong, so it shows how fast your fingers moved. The gap between them is what your mistakes cost.
- Why is my speed different on other sites?
- Sites count differently: some subtract a penalty for each mistake, some multiply by accuracy, and easy word lists give higher numbers than passages. Compare results on one site, with the same settings.
