- Press Start, then waitKeep your finger ready. The change comes after a wait that cannot be guessed. Press Space or Enter, click or tap the box the moment it comes.
- Read your resultYour middle try comes first, then the average, the fastest and slowest, every try, and what your setup adds.
Questions people ask
- Is reacting to sound quicker than to sight?
- Often a little, in lab studies. Here the beep is scheduled on your device's audio clock and placed on the page's clock, so your speakers' own delay is part of your time; wireless headphones can add a lot.
- Should I use headphones?
- Wired headphones or the device's own speakers are best. Bluetooth headphones delay sound by a tenth of a second or more, which this page cannot see or take away.
- Can I take this test with a screen reader?
- Yes: the beep is the only change, so the test does not depend on seeing the screen. Press Space or Enter when you hear it.
This page is the Reaction time test, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Reaction time test's own page.
