Hide what should not be seen.
Blur or pixelate faces, number plates and names in a photo, or cover them with a solid box, and why a box is the safe choice for anything private.

Before a photo goes online, a child's face, a car's plate or a name on a letter may need to go. There are three ways to hide them, and they are not equally safe.
Drag over it, and choose how.
Open Blur image, add a photo, and drag a box over what should not be seen. Choose Blur, Pixels or Box, and a rectangle or an oval (an oval fits a face). Each area is a step, so Undo takes it away again.
Blur and pixels can sometimes be read back.
Blurring and pixelating hide a part from the eye, but they keep some of what was there. Researchers have shown that software can recognise faces and read digits through both. For a number plate, a name or anything private, use Box: a solid colour leaves nothing of what was under it.
Hidden in the file too.
A photo can carry where it was taken in its details. The downloaded file has no location or camera details, and the photo is never uploaded while you work.
Your photo stays on your device.
The photo is opened, changed and written in your browser; it is never uploaded. The downloaded file carries no location or camera details, and nothing is kept when you leave.
