A little help along the way
Follow the steps below. Every option is explained underneath.
- Add your videoDrop it or choose it: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or MPEG-TS, of any length.
- Choose the part, if you likeTrim it to the stretch you want: frames are taken only from what the trimmer keeps.
- Choose which framesEvery few seconds, a number spread evenly, the first frame of each shot, the keyframes, every frame, or moments you type. Then the format, quality and size.
- Take them and save themPress Take frames, choose the ones you want, and download them as a ZIP, one by one, or on one contact sheet.
Every option explained
- Every few seconds
- A frame at the start of each stretch: half a second to a minute apart.
- Spread evenly
- So many frames from the middle of equal slices of the video, never the dark first frame many open with.
- Each new shot
- Every frame is compared with the one before, and the first frame after a cut is kept. Clear cuts finds only hard cuts; Softer changes too finds fades and quick changes as well. A flash or a shot shorter than half a second is not split.
- Keyframes
- The frames the video is built from, which decode fastest: a quick way to see what is in a long video.
- Every frame
- All of them, or one in 2, 5, 10 or 30, up to 1,000 at a time.
- At moments
- The moments you type, such as 0:05, 1:12.5, or the one the player shows.
- Format
- PNG keeps every pixel as decoded; JPEG and WebP are much smaller, at the quality you choose. Browsers that cannot write WebP write PNG and say so.
- Size and names
- The video's own size, or its shorter side brought down to 1080, 720 or less, never up. Pictures are named by their moment (sorting in order) or by their frame number.
