Record yourself
Your camera and microphone, recorded by this browser and saved on this device.
Your voice, from the microphone.
Recorded by this browser and saved on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
1080p, sharp text: about 2.8 GB an hour at most. A smaller screen takes less.
30 for talking through slides and apps; 60 for games and fast scrolling, in a larger file.
MP4 (H.264 and AAC) plays everywhere. WebM (VP9 and Opus) where a browser cannot write MP4. The browser is asked what it can write before recording.
Seconds before recording starts, to get ready. It is not recorded.
The microphone and camera can be chosen here once the browser has been allowed to use them, after your first recording.
Keeps the computer's sound from your speakers out of your microphone. Automatic turns it on when that sound is recorded too.
The recording is kept on this device as it is made, so a closed tab or a crash does not lose it; it is deleted once the recording is finished. Starts off every time.
A little help along the way
Follow these steps. Every option is explained underneath. Your browser records and saves the video on this device; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Choose what to recordScreen records a tab, a window or your whole screen. Screen and me adds your camera in a round bubble in a corner, like a video message. Just me records only your camera.
- Choose the soundMy microphone records your voice. Sound from the tab or computer records what is playing, where the browser gives it: in Chrome and Edge, tick Share audio in the browser's window. Firefox and Safari give no sound with the screen, so only your microphone is recorded there.
- Press RecordThe browser asks what to share (a tab, a window or your entire screen) and whether this site may use the camera and the microphone. Then a 3, 2, 1 countdown that is not recorded gives you a moment to get ready.
- Pause, go on, stopWhile recording, the page shows the time, the size so far and how loud the sound is. Pause leaves no gap in the video. In Chrome, Controls in a small window keeps Pause and Stop in front of every other window. Stop, or the browser's Stop sharing, ends it.
- Save it or edit itThe recording is copied into a finished file, opened again and checked before it is offered. Download saves it as MP4 (or WebM). Edit it opens it in the Video editor to cut the start and end, crop it or make it smaller.
- On a phoneBrowsers on phones and tablets cannot record the screen, so the recorder records your camera. Use the phone's own screen recording (Control Centre on an iPhone or iPad, Quick Settings on Android), then open the video in the Video editor.
- KeysAlt or ⌥ + R: Start recording, or stop and keep it. Alt or ⌥ + P: Pause, or go on.
Questions people ask
- Is my video uploaded anywhere?
- No. Your browser records the camera and the microphone and saves the video on this device. Nothing is sent to KeepSimp or anyone else.
- Is there a time limit or a watermark?
- No. You can record for as long as your device has room, and nothing is added to the picture. The page says when room is short and stops by itself before it runs out.
- Can I trim the video afterwards?
- Yes. Press Edit it and the recording opens in the Video editor, where you can cut the start and end, crop it or make it smaller, still on your device.
This page is the Screen recorder, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Screen recorder's own page.
