A speaker test for buzzes and bass.

Test your speakers in your browser with a sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and beeps on each side, to hear rattles, buzzes and weak bass.

The device tests: a microphone level bar, a camera picture, left and right speaker buttons and a screen filled with red

A sweep lets every frequency take a turn.

The sweep.

It glides from 20 Hz to 20 kHz over ten seconds by octaves, so each octave gets the same time, and the page shows the frequency as it plays.

What to listen for.

Rattles and buzzes at one place in the sweep, a room that booms at a low note, and where the sound fades away. Small speakers play little below about 80 Hz.

Start quiet.

A loud sweep can harm small speakers and your hearing; start with the volume low and turn up slowly.
