Speaker test

A sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and beeps on each side, to hear rattles, buzzes and weak bass, on your device. Free, with no account or uploads.

Test your speakers with a sweep

Turn the volume down, press Play a sweep and listen for rattles, buzzes, and where the sound fades at either end.

Turn your volume down first, then press a side. Each sound should come from the side it names.

Ready

Press a side to hear it

If left and right come from the wrong sides, the speakers or headphones are swapped, or a setting mixes them to mono.

  • The sounds are made by your browser, never downloaded. No page can hear what your speakers play, so only your ears can judge.
  • This browser plays through the output your system has chosen; change it in your system's sound settings.

  3. Hold several at onceTo test ghosting and rollover, hold many keys together; the result keeps the most held at once.
  4. Read the resultIt says how many keys have worked, which are still to press, the most held at once, and any key that bounced.

Questions people ask

What does the sweep test?
It glides from 20 Hz to 20 kHz over ten seconds, by octaves, so rattles, buzzes, and where your speakers stop playing low or high notes can be heard.
Why can I not hear the start or the end?
Small speakers play little below about 80 Hz, and most adults hear less above about 15 kHz; the sweep is still playing there.
Is it safe for my speakers?
Keep the volume low: a loud sweep can harm small speakers and your hearing. Start quiet and turn up slowly.
