Left and right audio test
Beeps in the left and the right speaker or earphone, to check they are the right way round, on your device. Free, with no account or uploads.
Check left and right
Press Left, then Right. If they come from the wrong sides, the headphones are on the wrong ears or the speakers are swapped.
Turn your volume down first, then press a side. Each sound should come from the side it names.

Press a side to hear it
If left and right come from the wrong sides, the speakers or headphones are swapped, or a setting mixes them to mono.
- The sounds are made by your browser, never downloaded. No page can hear what your speakers play, so only your ears can judge.
- This browser plays through the output your system has chosen; change it in your system's sound settings.
A little help along the way
Follow these steps. Every option is explained underneath. Everything happens in your browser; nothing you press is sent anywhere.
- Choose your keyboardThe shape (ANSI, ISO, JIS, ABNT2, Korean or Mac) is guessed from your system; change it if it is wrong, and choose the size: full, tenkeyless, 75%, 65%, 60% or the number pad.
- Click the board and press your keysEach key lights while held and keeps a tick once it has worked. The site's own shortcuts step aside while you test. Press Escape twice to leave.
- Hold several at onceTo test ghosting and rollover, hold many keys together; the result keeps the most held at once.
- Read the resultIt says how many keys have worked, which are still to press, the most held at once, and any key that bounced.
Questions people ask
- What if left and right are swapped?
- Check the headphones are on the right ears (L and R are marked) or the speakers' cables; a setting that mixes sound to mono makes both sides play every beep.
- Why do I hear both sides for the left beep?
- Mono audio is turned on in your system's accessibility settings, or the speakers mix the channels. Turn mono off to hear each side alone.
- Does it work with Bluetooth headphones?
- Yes, though Bluetooth adds a short delay before each beep, which no page can measure.
This page is the Keyboard tester, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Keyboard tester's own page.
