They start turned a quarter to the right; choose left, 180° or a mirror instead. In MP4 and MOV the turn is written as a setting players follow, so the picture need not be encoded again; other formats are drawn turned.

Questions people ask

Does rotating a video lower its quality?
Not in MP4 or MOV when nothing else changes: the turn is written as a setting that players follow and the picture is copied as it is. WebM and MKV cannot carry that setting, so there the picture is drawn turned and encoded again.
Which way does it turn?
It starts a quarter turn to the right (90° right). Choose 90° left or 180° instead under Turn and shape, or None to leave the turn alone.
Can I mirror a video from a front camera?
Yes. Turn on Mirror under Turn and shape: the picture is flipped left to right, with a turn or without one.
Can I turn several videos at once?
Yes, up to 20 at a time. The same turn is given to each, and they can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.
