A little help along the way
Follow the steps below. Every option is explained underneath.
- Choose where it is goingInstagram Reel, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and others: the reel takes that platform's shape and size. Or type a size of your own.
- Add your videos and picturesThe editor opens over the page. Drop them on the reel or add them from Media on the left. They go on the end of the reel in the order you add them; videos can be of any length.
- Arrange and trimPress a clip in the timeline under the reel: the panel on the right shows its part, speed, fit and sound, and moves it earlier or later. Split a clip at the playhead. With no clip chosen, the right panel asks where the reel will be posted and sets its shape and how every clip fills it; the other platforms, the sound mixing and the background colour are under Fine-tune the reel.
- Add words, music and captionsFrom the left: text in a dozen looks, stickers and logos, motion graphics, an intro or outro card, music and voice-overs of your own, and captions heard from the speech on this device. Or start from a template.
- ExportPress Export at the top right. The window says about how large the reel will be and asks where it will go: best for the platform, sending in a chat, or keeping the most detail; turn on Must be under a size? for a limit. The format, size, frames a second, loudness and cover are under More options. Then Export the reel: it is checked before you download it, with its cover as a picture beside it.
Questions people ask
- How do I add music to my slideshow?
- Once your photos are in, the editor opens on Music: press Add music and choose a file of your own. It plays under the whole slideshow, and when it has a beat the photos can be cut to it in one press.
- How long is each photo shown?
- As long as the template that fits how many photos there are shows it. Choose a photo in the timeline and drag its ends to show it longer or shorter.
- Can I make a widescreen slideshow?
- It starts tall, for phones. Change the shape in the reel's own settings, to wide for YouTube or a TV, or square, or choose where it is going before adding the photos.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. The photos are read and the video is written in this browser, on your device, and the slideshow has no watermark.
