A little help along the way
Follow these steps. Every option is explained underneath. Everything happens in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Type or paste your listOne entry a line: names, places to eat, chores. Shuffle, sort or clear it with the buttons under it.
- Say what you are doingPick one is the usual. Take turns takes each pick off the wheel, for an order with no repeats. Make teams shares everyone out. Secret Santa has everyone draw someone to give to.
- SpinPress Spin, the wheel itself, or Ctrl or ⌘ and Enter in the list. The pick is drawn first; the wheel only shows it.
- Read the resultThe pick is said in large letters. Take it off the wheel, spin again, or copy a link that carries the list.
Every option explained
- How fair it is
- Every pick comes from your browser's cryptographic generator, drawn by rejection so that no entry is favoured, before the wheel moves. Where it stops inside the slice is drawn too.
- More chances
- Under More options, turn on more chances and write a number after a colon (“Pizza: 3”). The slice grows to match, so the wheel shows the real chance.
- Teams
- Choose how many teams or how many people in each. Put a number after a name (“Ana 7”) to balance by skill: the strongest are dealt first in a snake so totals come out close.
- Secret Santa
- Nobody draws themselves, and couples can be kept apart. Pass the phone so each person sees only their own match, or copy a link for each person; whoever drew can open those links too.
- Prove it
- Shows a fingerprint of the next draw before it is made. Anyone can type words that change the draw, and afterwards the record lets anyone make the same draw again and check it.
- Keeping lists
- Nothing is kept unless you turn on “Keep my lists on this device”; then lists you save stay in this browser until you turn it off.
