Age calculator

Age in years, months and days from a date of birth, the next birthday, and fun facts with their rules. Free, with no account or uploads.

Work out an age

Choose the date of birth. The age is counted to today unless you choose another day.

Dates follow the Gregorian calendar back to year 1, as computers do; before 1582 (1752 in Britain and its colonies) records were kept in the Julian calendar, so old dates may differ from what was written at the time.

How it works and help
Worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; a country's holidays are read from this site's own files.

Questions people ask

How is age counted?
Whole years to the last birthday, then whole months, then the days left over, as people and most laws count it. The total in days is given too.
What if I was born on 29 February?
In a common year the birthday is counted on 1 March, as Hong Kong and Taiwan law count it, unless you choose 28 February under More options.
Is my date of birth sent anywhere?
No. The age is worked out in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your device.
