Days until Diwali

A countdown to Diwali, whose date follows the Hindu lunar calendar, with the date each year. Free, with no account or uploads.

Count down to Diwali

Diwali's date follows the Hindu lunar calendar; the page takes it from python-holidays' list for India.

Dates follow the Gregorian calendar back to year 1, as computers do; before 1582 (1752 in Britain and its colonies) records were kept in the Julian calendar, so old dates may differ from what was written at the time.

Questions people ask

Why does Diwali's date change?
It follows the Hindu lunar calendar, so it falls on a different Western date each year, usually in October or November.
Where does the date come from?
From python-holidays' list of India's holidays, for 2020 to 2035, kept on this site. Nothing is looked up when you use it.
Can it count to other festivals?
Yes: type Holi, Eid, Chinese New Year or Hanukkah in the same box. Dates that wait on the moon being sighted are marked as estimates.

This page is the Date calculator, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Date calculator's own page.
