Split a ZIP into parts
Pack files as small as they go and cut the ZIP into parts that fit an email, on your device. Free, with no account or uploads.
Choose the largest part your email takes: the Outlook app 20 MB, Gmail 25 MB. The parts open together in 7-Zip.

Folders keep their own folders inside the ZIP. Add more at any time before you make it.

A little help along the way
Follow these steps. Every option is explained underneath. Everything happens in your browser; nothing in the archive is sent anywhere.
- Open the archiveDrop it on the page or press Choose a file. For a ZIP cut into parts (.z01, .z02 … .zip, or .001, .002 …), choose every part at once. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no size limit but your device's.
- See what is insideThe page says how many files there are and how large they are once taken out. Folders open with a press; Find a file looks through every name. Press the eye beside a file to preview a picture, text, sound or a video.
- Type the password, if it has oneLocked files show a padlock. Type the password you were given and press Unlock. It stays on the page and is never kept.
- Choose the filesEvery file starts chosen. Untick what you do not want, or tick a folder to choose everything in it.
- Take them outIn Chrome and Edge on a computer, Extract into a folder writes the files with their folders into one you choose. In every browser, Download saves one file as it is, or several as one ZIP your device opens by itself. Each row has its own download button too.
- Check for damageCheck for damage reads every file in full and compares it with the checksum it was saved with, then names any file that does not match.
Questions people ask
- Which part size should I choose?
- The largest your email takes: Microsoft says the Outlook app sends up to 20 MB with internet accounts such as Gmail or Outlook.com, and Google says Gmail sends up to 25 MB. If a part is refused, choose the next size down.
- How does the person put the parts back together?
- They save every part in one folder and open the .zip part with 7-Zip, which reads the rest by itself, or choose every part at once in the Zip and archive tool. The Mac's Archive Utility and Windows File Explorer do not open ZIPs in parts.
- What are the .z01 and .z02 files?
- They are the parts of one ZIP, in the standard form ZIP programs expect: name.z01, name.z02 and so on, with the last part named name.zip. Every part is needed to open it.
- Why is the ZIP still almost as large as my files?
- Photos, videos and PDFs are compressed already, so packing them again saves almost nothing. Making the files themselves smaller, with the image, video or PDF compressor, can make a ZIP fit in one email.
This page is the Zip and archive tool, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Zip and archive tool's own page.
