How it works and help

How it works

  1. 1Add a photoDrop it in, choose it, or paste it.
  2. 2Make your changeEach look is shown on your own photo. Tap one, set how strong it is, and make it lighter or warmer if you like.
  3. 3Download itThe same kind of file at the same size, without its location.

Nothing is uploaded: the photo is edited and saved on this device.

A little help along the way

Follow these steps. Every option is explained underneath. Everything happens in your browser; the photo is never uploaded.

  1. Say what you want to do, and add a photoChoose an answer to What do you want to do? (Make it look better is the usual), then drop a photo, choose one or paste one. The editor opens full screen on that tool; the others are in the bar of tools, beside the photo on a computer and along the bottom on a phone.
  2. Make it look betterPress Auto, or tap a look: each is shown as a small picture of your photo. Then set Light, Colour and Detail in words, such as Darker, As taken or Brighter. Exact values and the look's strength are under Fine-tune.
  3. Crop, turn, flip or straightenTurn Shape on and choose Original, Square, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16, or drag the crop's corners freely. Turn left or right, flip either way, and drag the dial to level a horizon.
  4. Add wordsPress Add words, type them, and drag them into place. Choose a font, a colour, a size and a box behind them.
  5. Hide a partDrag over what should not be seen, and choose Blur, Pixels or Box, as a rectangle or an oval. Box is the safe choice for anything private.
  6. Draw on itChoose a pen or a highlighter, a colour and a thickness, and draw on the photo.
  7. Compare, undo and downloadHold the photo while Looks is open, or hold Compare, to see it as it came. Undo and Redo go through every change. Download writes the same kind of file at the same size.
  8. KeysCtrl or ⌘ + Z: undo; Ctrl or ⌘ + Shift + Z: redo; M: hold to see the photo as it came; C: crop and straighten; Ctrl or ⌘ + S: download; Escape: leave what you are doing, or close the editor; +: zoom in; -: zoom out; 0: fit the photo to the window.

Questions people ask

How do I make a photo look better in one tap?
Press Auto. It measures the photo's light and colour and sets the editor's own settings, which you can then see and change.
How do I make a photo black and white?
Choose Black and white, or Noir for harder contrast. Strength under Fine-tune sets how far it goes.
Can I change a look after choosing it?
Yes. Make it lighter, warmer or more vivid in plain words under it, or set exact values under Fine-tune. Undo takes back each change.

This page is the Photo editor, opened for this one job; every other tool it has is one press away. Each of its settings is explained on the Photo editor's own page.
