Questions people ask
- What is kept when it becomes a ZIP?
- Every file's bytes, name, folder and date. Owners and permissions are not carried over, and links, devices and sparse files are left out with the reason.
- Is anything uploaded to convert it?
- No. The files are taken out into your browser's private storage for this site, packed into a ZIP on your device, and downloaded. That storage is emptied when you leave the page.
- How much space does it need?
- Room for the files taken out and for the ZIP, for a moment, since the files are written out before they are packed again. There is no size limit of KeepSimp's own.
- Can I convert a single .gz file to ZIP?
- A .gz holds one file, so there is nothing to convert: open it and save the file inside. If you want it in a ZIP, make a ZIP of that file afterwards.
